Then we got busy creating our own under the ocean art.
We talked about how when S and H walk together they make the shhh sound. We brainstormed and listed all the SH words we could think of:
Shell
Ship
Shop
Shore
Shoe
Shark
Sheep
I let the children loose with play-dough and shells to make shell impressions. It's rather cool what happens when you give children art material and let them alone to create as they please.
After an hour of tactile play with the shells and dough we made shell prints practicing our SH first. We reviewed the Sh sound, then wrote Sh and Shell, then we painted shells with blue paint and used them like stamps.
While we were stamping things I threw out ink pads and small ocean creature stamps I found at the Dollar Tree Store. We practiced writing our Oo.
Making the Oo sound while he writes his Oo's on his own. He's come SO far!!
S is going to kindergarten in August so I do more writing with him than my three-year-olds. He's a very bright little boy. A total joy to teach!
After all the ocean time fun, it was time for lunch and nap.
Mac & Cheese, Hot Dogs, Carrots and Cucumbers with Dip, Grapes, Milk.
After nap and snack we practiced writing our names then did this Sh worksheet.
See everyone tomorrow!
