There are all styles and shapes of dads. Some step to the plate and fill shoes left behind by another, some take one look into their baby's face and fall in love for a lifetime, some are papas, dad's the second go round.
Whatever style or shape you take, Dad, you are important to the child in your life/heart.
~thank you~
This book is a classic. Dad and his little buddy.
We read this at circle then talked about how special the men who fill dad's shoes in our children's lives are. We charted all the wonderful things the children had to say about their dads/papas. We talked about ways to make our dads/papas feel our love.
It was a very sweet morning and made Ms. P misty eyed. I lost my dad three years ago to the date this father's day, and he was more than a dad, he was a daddy and those are hard to come by. Happy Father's Day, Dad. I miss you ever single day.
We made several surprises for our dads today.
First we made these cups for our dad to enjoy his favorite summer drink in.
They were so proud of their cups for dad.
Then we made dad/papa a shirt.
Then it was time for the card.
I asked the kids a series of questions comparing their dad with superman. The answers were really sweet and made me laugh more than once.
Superman is strong
BUT
My John is cool
Superman can leap buildings in a single bound
BUT
My John colors with me and plays hide-and-go-seek.
Superman is faster than a speeding bullet
BUT
My John is a liitle bit fast, but the dogs are faster, and I am faster when I ride my bike but John IS faster than the next door neighbor man.
Superman can fly
BUT
My John drives the care REALLY fast.
That's why My John is cooler than Superman!
Superman is strong
BUT
My papa can pick me up
Superman can leap buildings with a single bound
BUT
My papa can fly on an airplane.
Superman is faster than a speeding bullet
BUT
my papa isn't fast but I love him anyway.
Superman can fly
BUT
My papa loves me
That's why my papa is cooler than Superman!
The last thing to go into our dad's basket were these framed poems.
So proud of their father's day baskets for dad/papa!
After a morning filled with father's day surprises we headed outside for splash day.
OH HOW THEY LOVED IT!
Every Friday will be splash day through out summer.
We dried off and headed inside for lunch.
Pasta, salad, meatballs, watermelon and milk,
Then it was time for nap
Next week we will have a Pouty Pouty Fish day. I have three stuffed animals and both Pouty Pouty Fish books. The children want to sleep with them every day. SO SWEET!
After nap we practiced writing our names, everyone made cards for their dads, and we enjoyed a counting center.
I found these ice trays two for a dollar at the Dollar Tree store, a bag of big blue stones also found at Dollar Tree, an extra cup from father's day activity, and some small foam ocean shapes and we have a nice counting center.
Not bad for two bucks, huh?
Happy Father's Day everyone!
See you on Monday.
Ms. P
Lovely family
