We started our circle time with this delightful book
The children laughed and giggled their way through two readings of this fun book.
After reading our book and singing the hippo song we made these hats so we could stomp about like hippos.
(He's a lot happier than the picture depicts. He hates posing for pictures.)
After making our hippo hats we stomped about singing our hippo song some more.
Then it was time for some manipulative fun. We enjoyed building with our jungle gear builders.
I found this hippo art idea on pinterest and added my own spin to it. The kids really enjoyed stamping the hippo's teeth.
"I like the hippo's feet best. They are big and funny."
"I like the hippo's BIG teeth the best. I wish I had big teeth like the hippo does."
"I like the hippo's little tail. I think it's funny!"
We got really hands on after making our hippo art and writing with these hand-print hippos.
The kids thought it was so much fun to turn their hands into hippos.
After lunch and a nap we practiced writing our Hh with these fun Hh hippo writing sheets.
Happy Hippo Day!
