Octopus Day

We continue our ocean unit of study with this Oo book.

The kids loved the rhythm of this book and we read it through several times through out the morning, at their request.

We worked on our small motor skills with this octopus activity/art.

They loved feeding the Oo's onto the pipe-cleaner tentacles.  We also practice counting while feeding the Oo's onto the tentacles.

We got very hands-on with these hand-print octopus.

They are SO very proud of their art.

Math time.

We created these counting octopus, painting first, then gluing on O's 1-8, practiced writing our numbers, then counting.  We learned/developed one to one correspondence, counting, fine motor skills, writing, and number recognition.

Tons of learning packed into one little art activity.

Such a sincere smile.  Ha ha ha.

We enjoyed building corral reefs with our Legos during free play time.

Then it was time for lunch

pssst, don't look at the tentacles too closely, cutting six was very challenging, cutting eight proved too difficult for me.

We enjoyed goldfish for snack, practiced writing our names, then did this worksheet.

Hope everyone's day was as awesome as ours!
