to have and to hold for the rest of his life.
He went out to Wal-Mart to buy him a sink
and there he saw Wanda and gave her a wink.
She was wild about Willy.
It was love at first sight.
They had a big wedding,
and were married that night.
They served watermelon.
It turned out so nice.
And Willy was happy
for the rest of his life.
Thus started our Willy the Walrus day.
After singing our Willy the Walrus song and talking about the sound Ww makes, we watched this youtube link of walrus swimming.
I love having the internet so the children get to watch these sort of things as we are learning about them.

Now it was time to make our Willy the Walrus hats.
We sang our Willy the Walrus song as we made our hats.
We put on our Willy Walrus hats and we played a game of Willy says. Willy says bark like a walrus. Willy says walk like a walrus. Willy says swim like a walrus. The kids enjoyed moving their bodies in silly and funny ways.
After moving our bodies it was time for lunch.
Ravioli, cheese toast, apple slices, salad, and milk.
Time for a nap.
After nap we sorted through noodles to find Ww. The kids had a lot of fun.
We said the letter as we found our W's, and made their sound as we put them on our Ww mats. Wonderful Ww learning fun.
Now it was time to practice our Ww, writing.
The children were ready to play a listening game. I gave them each a Ww mat and markers of red construction paper with Ww written on them. I drew a card from a pile of word cards and we talked about each's started sound. If the children heard the Ww sound they covered one of the W's on their mat. The kids really enjoyed this game and played it five times.
After looking at, listening to, searching for, and writing letter Ww it was time for some real hands on Ww learning fun.
We traced our hands onto brown paper, cut them out, aka Ms. Pamela ended up cutting them out, and gluing them to make a hand print walrus. We then wrote an uppercase and lowercase Ww onto red paper and glued that on as well.
Lots of Ww learning fun today.
See you tomorrow as the Ww fun continues.
Ms. P
