I finally gave in and made them a deal. We would pull out all the new toys, one at a time, of course, if they promised to work on their arts and writing after nap.
She's fussing at me, asking why we can't play with the new toys.
After a morning spent on the floor building towns, and towers with Legos, and farms and cities with bristleblocks we sat down to lunch.
Chicken dinos, green beans, tator tots, watermelon and pineapple, with milk. Yummers.
Good to their word, both children came to the table ready and eager to learn. We wrote our dotted Ss then painted this happy little fellow. Ssnowman.
After finishing our Ss writing sheet from this morning we were ready to do a melty snowman art. We talked about how our snowman from Tuesday melted and why. How heat and cold can change matter. Then we made these...
Melty snowmen.
With all this chilly snowman fun it was time to warm up with a nice cup of coffee from Starbucks.
The children really enjoy the different prop boxes, and Starbucks is a total favorite.
It's really easy to set up.
Starbucks is only too happy to donate cups, stickers, and bags.
Put the stickers on child-sized aprons and hats, cut green construction paper in quarters and add a sticker, laminate, then staple white paper between and you have cool order pads.
I also photocopied the logo I cut from a cup to create Starbucks bucks, the children use to pay and count back change for their Starbucks purchases.
I collected my empty Starbucks gift cards to throw into this prop box, along with empty coffee cans and creamer bottles and there you have it, Starbucks prop box.
Good to use for Ss, Cc, or Bb, or any day the kids ask to play.

They won't learn much except to hate learning if you force them.
Tomorrow, we are off to McDonalds for a fun field trip day.
See you Monday.
